לָא (lāʾ) is an Aramaic negative particle meaning not. It appears 82 times in 3 books of the Hebrew Bible (Strong's H3809).
Root family 2808: לָא lāʾ — not. Used as in Hebrew. Note that in BA the accented qameṣ does not change to ḥolem. Two usages are more common in BA than Hebrew. lāʾ may, in BA, be used to negate a participle. And since Aramaic does not use lĕbiltî, the plain negative lāʾ is found with an infinitive of purpose preceded by the preposition lĕ
