עֵטָא (ʿēṭāʾ) is an Aramaic noun meaning counsel. It appears 1 time in 1 book of the Hebrew Bible (Strong's H5843).
Root family 2772: יְעַט yĕʿaṭ — advise, take counsel. Only used in the Ithpael. The usage is similar to the Hebrew cognate יָעַץ (yāʿaṣ). The meaning of “consult together” is found in the Niphal of Hebrew, whereas the one use of the Hithpael in Hebrew means “conspire.” Is the Aramaic of Dan 6:7 [A 8] really saying that the officials had conspired together?
