1 John 1

KJ3 Literal Translation — Chapter 1 of 5

1 That which was from the beginning, that which we have heard, that which we have seen with our eyes, that which we beheld, and that which our hands touched, as regards the Word of Life.

2 And the Life was revealed, and we have seen, and we bear witness, and we announce to you the everlasting Life which was with the Father, and was revealed to us.

3 We announce to you that which we have seen, and that which we have heard, that you also may have fellowship with us. And truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son, Jesus Christ.

Timeline

Declaration of the Word of Life

John declares that which was from the beginning — what was heard, seen, beheld, and touched concerning the Word of Life — as the foundation of his testimony and the basis for fellowship with the Father and Son.

1 John 1:1-4
God Is Light

The core message is announced: God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. Walking in darkness while claiming fellowship with Him is exposed as a lie; walking in the light brings true fellowship and cleansing through the blood of Christ.

1 John 1:5-7
Confession and Forgiveness

If believers confess their sins, God is faithful and righteous to forgive and cleanse from all unrighteousness. Claiming sinlessness makes God a liar and reveals the absence of His Word within.
