2 Timothy 4

KJ3 Literal Translation — Chapter 4 of 4

1 Therefore, I solemnly witness before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, He being about to judge the living and dead at His appearance and His kingdom:

2 preach the Word, stand by seasonably, unseasonably, convict, warn, encourage with all long-suffering and teaching.

3 For a time will be when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own lusts, they will heap up to themselves teachers tickling the ear;

The Solemn Charge to Preach

Paul solemnly charges Timothy before God and Christ Jesus, the Judge of living and dead, to preach the Word, stand ready in season and out, convict, warn, and encourage with long-suffering and teaching.

Warning of Itching Ears

A time will come when people will not endure sound doctrine but will heap up teachers who tickle their ears, turning away from truth to myths. Timothy must remain clear-minded and do the work of an evangelist.

Paul's Departure and Crown

Paul declares he is already being poured out and the time of his release is present. He has fought the good fight, finished the course, and kept the faith. The crown of righteousness awaits him and all who love Christ's appearing.
