Ephesians 5

KJ3 Literal Translation — Chapter 5 of 6

1 Therefore become imitators of God, as beloved children,

2 and walk in love, even as Christ also loved us and gave Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a fragrance of a sweet smell.

3 But let not fornication, and all uncleanness, or greediness, be named among you, as is fitting for saints;

4 also baseness, and foolish talking, or joking (the things not becoming), but rather thanksgiving.

Imitating God

Believers must walk in love as imitators of God, entirely shunning fornication, uncleanness, and covetousness, as these have no inheritance in the kingdom.

Saints are commanded to walk as children of light, proving what is pleasing to the Lord, and exposing the unfruitful works of darkness.

Filled by the Spirit

Believers are urged to walk wisely, redeem the time, and avoid drunkenness, instead being filled by the Spirit while singing psalms and giving thanks.
