Genesis 15:1-5Abram believes Jehovah, and it is counted to him for righteousness. God reiterates His promise to give him the land. Abram asks for a sign, and God instructs him to bring animals for a covenant ceremony. After Abram cuts the animals in half, a smoking furnace and a torch of fire pass between the pieces, symbolizing God's covenant.
