Jeremiah 52

KJ3 Literal Translation — Chapter 52 of 52

1 Zedekiah was a son of twenty-one years when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And the name of his mother was Hamutal, the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.

2 And he did evil in the eyes of Jehovah, according to all that Jehoiakim had done.

3 For it was because of the anger of Jehovah in Jerusalem and Judah that Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon, until Jehovah had cast them out from His face.

Zedekiah rebels against the king of Babylon, prompting Nebuchadnezzar to come with his army in Zedekiah's ninth year, pitching against Jerusalem and building a siege wall.

A severe famine hits the city. In the eleventh year, the wall is breached and Zedekiah flees, but is captured in Jericho. His sons are killed, and he is blinded and imprisoned in Babylon.
