Jonah 3

KJ3 Literal Translation — Chapter 3 of 4

1 And the Word of Jehovah was to Jonah the second time, saying,

2 Rise up, go to Nineveh, the great city, and cry out to it the proclamation that I am declaring to you.

3 And Jonah rose up and went to Nineveh according to the Word of Jehovah. And Nineveh was a great city to God, of three days' journey.

Jonah

The prophet who, commanded a second time, goes to Nineveh and proclaims its overthrow in forty days.

Jehovah

The God who again sends His word to Jonah and, seeing Nineveh's repentance, relents from the destruction He had spoken.

King of Nineveh

The ruler who rises from his throne, dons sackcloth and ashes, and decrees a fast for man and beast.

The men of the great city who believe God, call a fast, and turn from their evil ways and violence.
