Timeline
Believers are instructed to have the same mind as Christ, who emptied Himself of His equality with God to take the form of a slave and become obedient to death on a cross [8]. Because of this ultimate humility, God highly exalted Him, granting Him a name above every name so that every knee will bow to Him [8, 9].
Philippians 2:1-11Paul commands the believers to cultivate their salvation with fear and trembling, doing everything without murmurings and disputings [9]. By holding forth the Word of life, they will shine as luminaries in the midst of a crooked and perverted generation [9, 10].
Philippians 2:12-18Paul shares his hope to send Timothy to them soon so he can be encouraged by news of their state [10]. He commends Timothy as a uniquely like-minded worker who genuinely cares for them and has served with Paul like a child to a father [10, 11].
