¹ Where has your Beloved gone, most beautiful among women? Where has your Beloved turned? For we seek Him along with you.

² My Beloved has gone down to His garden, to the garden-bed of spices, to feed in the gardens and to gather lilies.

³ I am to my Beloved, and my Beloved is to me; He feeds among the lilies.

Shulamite

The beloved, called back in v13: 'Return, return, O Shulamite! that we may gaze upon you.'

She answers that her Beloved has gone down to His garden to feed among the lilies, reaffirming their mutual devotion 18 .
