Genesis 12

KJ3 Literal Translation — Chapter 12 of 50

1 And Jehovah had said to Abram, Go out from your land and from your kindred, and from your father's house, to the land which I will show you.

2 And I will make of you a great nation. And I will bless you and make your name great; and you will be a blessing.

3 And I will bless those who bless you, and curse the one despising you. And in you all families of the earth shall be blessed.

Abram Journeys to Canaan

Abram, at 75 years old, departs from Haran with Sarai, Lot, and all their possessions and people acquired in Haran. They come into the land of Canaan, passing through Shechem and to the Oak of Moreh.

Promise of Land and Altar Building

Jehovah appears to Abram and promises to give the land to his seed. Abram builds an altar there. He then moves to a mountain between Beth-el and Ai, builds another altar, and calls on Jehovah's name.
