God promises to make him a great nation, bless him, make his name great, make him a blessing, bless those who bless him, and curse those who despise him, and in him all families of the earth will be blessed.
Genesis 12:1-3Abram, at 75 years old, departs from Haran with Sarai, Lot, and all their possessions and people acquired in Haran. They come into the land of Canaan, passing through Shechem and to the Oak of Moreh.
Genesis 12:4-6Jehovah appears to Abram and promises to give the land to his seed. Abram builds an altar there. He then moves to a mountain between Beth-el and Ai, builds another altar, and calls on Jehovah's name.
