Genesis 18

KJ3 Literal Translation — Chapter 18 of 50

1 And Jehovah appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre. And he was sitting at the door of the tent in the heat of the day.

2 And he lifted up his eyes and looked; and, behold, three men were standing by him. And he saw, and he ran to meet them from the entrance of the tent. And he bowed to the ground.

3 And he said, My Lord, if now I have found favor in Your sight, please do not leave from near Your servant.

Sarah Laughs at Isaac's Promise

One of the visitors (Jehovah) asks about Sarah. He reiterates the promise that Sarah will have a son 'at the time of life' (next year). Sarah, listening at the tent entrance, laughs within herself due to her old age. Jehovah questions Abraham about Sarah's laughter, affirming that nothing is too difficult for Him. Sarah denies laughing due to fear, but God insists she did.
