Genesis 3

KJ3 Literal Translation — Chapter 3 of 50

1 And the serpent was cunning above every animal of the field which Jehovah God had made. And he said to the woman, Is it true that God has said, You shall not eat from any tree of the garden?

2 And the woman said to the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden,

3 but of the fruit of the tree in the midst of the garden, God has said, You shall not eat of it, and you shall not touch it, lest you die.

The serpent deceives Eve into eating from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Eve then gives some to Adam, and he eats. Their eyes are opened, and they realize they are naked, making girdles of fig leaves.

Genesis 3:1-7
God's Judgment and Expulsion from Eden

God confronts Adam and Eve. The serpent is cursed to crawl on its belly and eat dust. Enmity is put between the serpent's seed and the woman's Seed. Eve's pain in childbearing is increased, and her husband will rule over her. Adam's toil for food is cursed, and he will return to dust. Adam names his wife Eve, as she is the mother of all living. God makes clothes of skin for them and drives them out of the Garden of Eden, placing cherubs and a flaming sword to guard the Tree of Life.
