KJ3 Literal Translation — Chapter 47 of 50

1 And Joseph came in and made known to Pharaoh, and said, My father and my brothers, and their flocks and their herds, and all which is theirs, have come in from the land of Canaan.

2 And, behold, they are in the land of Goshen. And he took five men from among his brothers and set them before Pharaoh.

3 And Pharaoh said to his brothers, What is your occupation? And they said to Pharaoh, Your servants are shepherds of flocks, both we and our fathers.

Joseph Presents His Family to Pharaoh

Joseph informs Pharaoh that his family and possessions have arrived in Goshen. He presents five of his brothers to Pharaoh. Pharaoh asks their occupation; they state they are shepherds, as their fathers were, and request to live in Goshen due to the famine in Canaan. Pharaoh grants them the best of the land, Goshen, and suggests appointing able men among them as chiefs over his own livestock.
