Timeline
God remembers Noah and all living things, sending a wind to subside the waters. The fountains of the deep and windows of heaven are stopped. The waters diminish over 150 days. In the seventh month, on the seventeenth day, the ark rests on the mountains of Ararat.
Genesis 8:1-4Waters continue to recede, and in the tenth month, on the first day, mountain tops are seen. After 40 days, Noah opens the ark's window and sends out a raven, which goes back and forth until the waters dry. He then sends out a dove, which finds no resting place and returns. After another seven days, he sends the dove again; it returns with an olive leaf, indicating the waters have receded. Seven days later, he sends the dove again, and it does not return.
Genesis 8:5-12In Noah's 601st year, on the first day of the first month, the earth is dried. By the 27th day of the second month, the earth is completely dry. God commands Noah, his family, and all living things to leave the ark.
