Timeline
A promise remains to enter God's rest. The gospel was preached to the wilderness generation but did not profit them because it was not mixed with faith. Joshua did not bring full rest; therefore a Sabbath rest remains for God's people.
Hebrews 4:1-10The Word of God is living, effectively working, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and spirit, joints and marrows, judging the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Nothing is hidden from His sight.
Hebrews 4:11-13Having a great High Priest who passed through the heavens — Jesus the Son of God — believers should hold fast the confession. He was tried in all things according to our likeness but without sin. Therefore draw near with confidence to the throne of grace.
