Timeline
Jeremiah prophesies that the temple will become like Shiloh and the city a curse. The priests, prophets, and people demand his death, but the rulers and elders spare him, citing the precedent of the prophet Micah under Hezekiah.
Jeremiah 26:1-19The prophet Urijah prophesies against the city and flees to Egypt in fear. King Jehoiakim sends men to retrieve him, strikes him down with a sword, and casts his body into the common graves. Meanwhile, Ahikam protects Jeremiah.
