KJ3 Literal Translation — Chapter 19 of 42

¹ ¶ And Job answered and said:

² Until when will you torment my soul and break me in pieces with words?

³ This ten times you have shamed me; you are not ashamed that you have wronged me.

⁴ And if indeed I have erred, my error remains with me.

Job Laments His Alienation and God's Hostility

Job asks how long his friends will torment him. He asserts that God has subverted his paths and removed his crown. Consequently, his brothers, wife, servants, and friends treat him as a detested stranger.

Job Declares His Redeemer Lives

Wishing his words were engraved in rock, Job famously declares his faith that his Redeemer is living, and that even after his flesh is destroyed, he will see God for himself. He warns his friends of impending judgment.
