Timeline
Jesus returns to His hometown and teaches in the synagogue. The locals are astonished but stumbled by Him, calling Him the carpenter and citing His ordinary family. Jesus marvels at their unbelief and performs only a few healings.
Mark 6:1-6Jesus sends the Twelve out two by two, giving them authority over unclean spirits. He instructs them to take minimal provisions. They proclaim repentance, cast out many demons, and anoint and heal many sick people.
Mark 6:7-13King Herod hears of Jesus and thinks He is a resurrected John the Baptist. A flashback details how Herod previously imprisoned John, and how Herodias' daughter danced at Herod's birthday, asking for and receiving John's head on a platter.
