KJ3 Literal Translation — Chapter 21 of 22

1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and the sea not still is.

2 And I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of Heaven from God, having been prepared as a bride, having been adorned for her Husband.

3 And I heard a great voice out of Heaven, saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God with men! And He will tabernacle with them, and they will be His peoples, and God Himself will be with them as their God.

All Things Made New

John sees a new heaven and new earth, for the first passed away and the sea is no more. The New Jerusalem descends from heaven as a bride. God tabernacles with humanity, wiping every tear — death, mourning, and pain are gone. He declares: 'Behold, I make all things new.'

The Glory of the New Jerusalem

The holy city has God's glory shining like crystal-clear jasper, with twelve gates bearing tribal names, twelve foundations with apostolic names, streets of transparent gold, and walls of precious stones. Its measurements are perfect: 12,000 stadia in each dimension.

God and the Lamb Are Its Temple and Light

No temple exists in the New Jerusalem because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city needs no sun or moon for the glory of God illuminates it and the Lamb is its lamp. The nations walk in its light and nothing profane enters it.
