Timeline
John sees a new heaven and new earth, for the first passed away and the sea is no more. The New Jerusalem descends from heaven as a bride. God tabernacles with humanity, wiping every tear — death, mourning, and pain are gone. He declares: 'Behold, I make all things new.'
Revelation 21:1-8The holy city has God's glory shining like crystal-clear jasper, with twelve gates bearing tribal names, twelve foundations with apostolic names, streets of transparent gold, and walls of precious stones. Its measurements are perfect: 12,000 stadia in each dimension.
Revelation 21:9-21No temple exists in the New Jerusalem because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city needs no sun or moon for the glory of God illuminates it and the Lamb is its lamp. The nations walk in its light and nothing profane enters it.
