Jacob loves Joseph most, making him a coat of many colors. His brothers hate him and cannot speak peacefully to him. Joseph dreams of his sheaf standing tall while his brothers' sheaves bow to it, and later, of the sun, moon, and eleven stars bowing to him. He tells these dreams to his brothers and father; his brothers hate him more and are jealous, but his father observes the matter.
