Joseph's Silver Cup in Benjamin's Sack

Joseph secretly commands his steward to fill his brothers' sacks with food, return each man's silver to his sack, and put his silver cup (used for drinking and divination) in Benjamin's sack, along with his grain money.

Genesis 44:1-2
Brothers Depart, Then Pursued

The brothers depart early. Before they go far, Joseph tells his steward to pursue them, accuse them of repaying good with evil, and ask why they stole his lord's cup.

Genesis 44:3-5
The Cup is Found, Brothers Return

The steward overtakes them and delivers the accusation. The brothers deny it vehemently, offering that whoever has the cup should die, and they would all become Joseph's slaves. The steward agrees, but says only the guilty one will be his slave, and the others innocent. They quickly empty their sacks, and the cup is found in Benjamin's sack. They tear their clothes, reload their asses, and return to the city.
