Timeline
God commands Moses to make two hammered silver trumpets for calling the congregation and directing the camps to move. The priests are to blow them for alarms, in times of war, and during joyful feasts over their sacrifices.
Numbers 10:1-10On the twentieth day of the second month in the second year, the cloud lifts from the tabernacle. The Israelites pull up stakes for the first time and journey from the wilderness of Sinai to the wilderness of Paran.
Numbers 10:11-13The camp of Judah (with Issachar and Zebulun) sets out first, followed by the Gershonites and Merarites bearing the tabernacle structure. Next goes the camp of Reuben (with Simeon and Gad), then the Kohathites bearing the sanctuary items, followed by the camp of Ephraim (with Manasseh and Benjamin), and finally the camp of Dan (with Asher and Naphtali).
