Numbers 11

KJ3 Literal Translation — Chapter 11 of 36

1 And the people were evil, as those complaining in the ears of Jehovah was hot, and the fire of Jehovah burned among them and devoured in the extreme edge of the camp.

2 And the people cried to Moses, and Moses prayed to Jehovah, and the fire was quenched.

3 And he called the name of that place Taberah, because the fire of Jehovah burned among them.

Chapter Summary

The people complain and are punished with fire at Taberah. They lust for meat and despise the manna. Moses feels overwhelmed and God appoints seventy elders to help him. God provides quail but strikes the people with a plague for their greed.

A mixed multitude and the Israelites weep, craving the meat, fish, and vegetables of Egypt. They loudly express their loathing for having nothing to eat but manna.

Moses Complains to God

Frustrated by the weeping people, Moses complains to God about the unbearable burden of leading them alone. He despairs of finding meat for them and asks God to kill him rather than let him face such trouble.
