And Jehovah spoke to Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they drew near before Jehovah, and died;
and Jehovah said to Moses, Speak to Aaron your brother, that he not come at all times into the sanctuary inside the veil, before the mercy-seat which is on the ark, so that he not die; for I will appear in the cloud on the mercy-seat.
Aaron shall come into the sanctuary with a young bull, a son of the herd, for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering.
He shall put on the holy linen coat, and he shall have the linen undergarments on his flesh, and shall gird himself with the linen sash, and shall wrap the linen miter around himself; they are holy garments. And he shall bathe his flesh in water, and shall put them on.
And he shall take from the congregation of the sons of Israel two kids of the goats for a sin offering, and one ram for a burnt offering.
And Aaron shall bring near the bull of the sin offering which is his own, and shall make atonement for himself and for his house.
And he shall take the two goats and shall cause them to stand before Jehovah at the door of the tabernacle of meeting.
And Aaron shall give lots on the two goats, one lot for Jehovah, and one lot for a dismissal.
And Aaron shall bring the goat on which the lot of Jehovah fell, and shall make it a sin offering.
And the goat on which the lot for dismissal fell shall be made to stand alive before Jehovah to make atonement on it, to send it away for a dismissal into the wilderness.
And Aaron shall bring near the bull of the sin offering which is his own, and shall make atonement for himself and for his house, and shall kill the bull of the sin offering which is his own.
And he shall take a censer full of coals of fire from off the altar before Jehovah, and his hands full of fragrant incense beaten small, and shall bring inside the veil.
And he shall put the incense on the fire before Jehovah, and the cloud of the incense shall cover the mercy-seat which is on the testimony, and he shall not die.
And he shall take of the blood of the bull, and shall sprinkle with his finger on the front of the mercy-seat eastward; and before the mercy-seat he shall sprinkle seven times from the blood with his finger.
And he shall kill the goat of the sin offering which is the people's, and shall bring its blood inside the veil, and shall do with its blood as he did with the blood of the bull, and shall sprinkle it on the mercy-seat, and before the mercy-seat.
And he shall make atonement for the sanctuary because of the uncleannesses of the sons of Israel, and because of their transgressions, for all their sins; and so he shall do for the tabernacle of meeting which dwells with them in the midst of their uncleannesses.
And no man shall be in the tabernacle of meeting when he goes in to make atonement in the sanctuary, until he comes out. And he shall make atonement for himself, and for his house, and for all the congregation of Israel.
And he shall go out to the altar before Jehovah, and shall make atonement for it; and shall take of the blood of the bull, and of the blood of the goat, and shall put it on the horns of the altar all around.
And he shall sprinkle on it from the blood with his finger seven times, and shall cleanse it, and shall consecrate it from the uncleannesses of the sons of Israel.
And when he has finished making atonement for the sanctuary, and the tabernacle of meeting, and the altar, then he shall bring near the live goat.
And Aaron shall lay both his hands on the head of the live goat, and shall confess over it all the iniquities of the sons of Israel, and all their transgressions in all their sins, putting them on the head of the goat, and shall send it away by the hand of a chosen man into the wilderness.
And the goat shall bear on itself all their iniquities to a land cut off. And he shall send the goat away into the wilderness.
And Aaron shall come into the tabernacle of meeting, and shall strip off the linen garments which he put on when he went into the sanctuary, and shall leave them there.
And he shall bathe his flesh with water in the holy place, and shall put on his garments, and shall come out and offer his burnt offering, and the burnt offering of the people, and shall make atonement for himself and for the people.
And he shall burn the fat of the sin offering on the altar.
And he who sent away the goat for a dismissal shall wash his clothes, and shall bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp.
And the bull of the sin offering, and the goat of the sin offering, whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the sanctuary, shall be carried forth outside the camp. And they shall burn their skins, and their flesh, and their dung with fire.
And he who burns them shall wash his clothes, and shall bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp.
And it shall be a never-ending statute to you: in the seventh month, on the tenth of the month, you shall afflict your souls, and shall do no work, the native, and the alien who is staying in your midst.
For on this day atonement shall be made for you, to cleanse you; you shall be clean from all your sins before Jehovah.
It is a sabbath of rest to you, and you shall afflict your souls, a never-ending statute.
And the priest whom he shall anoint, and whom he shall consecrate to act as priest in his father's place, shall make the atonement, and shall put on the linen garments, the holy garments.
And he shall make atonement for the holy sanctuary, and he shall make atonement for the tabernacle of meeting, and for the altar. And he shall make atonement for the priests, and for all the people of the congregation.
And this shall be a never-ending statute to you, to make atonement for the sons of Israel for all their sins once a year. And he did as Jehovah commanded Moses.
