Proverbs 10

Of moral virtues, and their contrary vices.

1The proverbs of Solomon: A wise son makes a father rejoice, but a son who is a fool is a mother's sorrow.
2Treasures of wickedness do not profit, but righteousness delivers from death.
3Jehovah will not allow the soul of the righteous one to hunger, but He pushes away the desire of the wicked one.
4He who works with a lazy palm will be lacking, but the hand of the diligent one makes to become rich.
5He who gathers in summer is a prudent son; he who sleeps in harvest is a son who causes shame.
6Blessings are on the head of the righteous one, but the mouth of the wicked ones covers violence.
7The memory of the righteous one is for a blessing, but the name of the wicked ones shall rot.
8The wise of heart accepts commands, but the lips of the foolish one shall be thrust away.
9He who walks in integrity walks securely, but he who perverts his ways shall be known.
10One winking the eye causes pain, and the lips of the foolish one shall be thrust away.
11The mouth of the righteous one is a fountain of life, but the mouth of the wicked one covers violence.
12Hating stirs up strifes, but love covers all transgressions.
13Wisdom is found in the lips of him who has understanding, but a rod is waiting for the back of him who lacks heart.
14The wise ones store up knowledge, but the mouth of the foolish one is near ruin.
15The rich man's wealth is his strong city; the ruin of the poor ones is their poverty.
16The wages of the righteous one is for life; the gain of the wicked one is for sin.
17On the path to life is one keeping instruction, but one forsaking reproof is going astray.
18One covering hating with lying lips, and sending out slander, he is a fool.
19In the abundance of words transgression does not cease, but one restraining his lips is prudent.
20The tongue of the righteous one is as choice silver; the heart of the wicked ones is but little.
21The lips of the righteous one feed many, but foolish ones die in lack of heart.
22The blessing of Jehovah makes one to be rich, and he adds no pain with it.
23To work out evil devices is as laughter to the fool; so wisdom is to a man of understanding.
24The fear of the wicked one is that which shall come upon him, but the desire of the righteous one is granted.
25As the storm wind passes, so the wicked one is not; but the righteous one is an everlasting foundation.
26Like vinegar to the teeth, and like smoke to the eyes, so is the lazy one to those who send him.
27The fear of Jehovah prolongs days, but the years of the wicked ones shall be cut short.
28The expectation of the righteous ones is joyful, but the hope of the wicked ones shall perish.
29The way of Jehovah is strength to the ones of integrity, but ruin is to doers of iniquity.
30The righteous one shall never be shaken, and the wicked ones shall not dwell in the land.
31The mouth of the righteous one flourishes with wisdom, but the tongue of perversity shall be cut off.
32The lips of the righteous one know what is pleasing, but the mouth of the wicked ones knows only perversity.
