Proverbs 14

There is a way that seems right to a man, but the end of it is the way of death.

1The wise among women builds her house, but she of foolishness pulls it down with her own hands.
2One walking in his uprightness fears Jehovah, but one being perverse in his ways despises Him.
3A rod of pride is in the mouth of a foolish one, but the lips of the wise ones shall keep them.
4The manger is clean where there are no cattle, but much increase is by the strength of an ox.
5A faithful witness will not lie, but a false witness breathes lies.
6A scorner seeks wisdom, but finds it not, yet knowledge is swift to the discerning.
7Go from before a foolish man, or you will not know the lips of knowledge.
8The wisdom of the shrewd one is to understand his way, but the folly of fools is deceit.
9Foolish ones laugh at guilt offering, but favor is among the upright ones.
10The heart knows the bitterness of its soul, and a stranger does not share in its joy.
11The house of the wicked ones shall be laid waste, but the tent of the upright ones will flourish.
12There is a way that seems right to a man, but the end of it is the way of death.
13Even in laughter pain is in the heart and in its end that joy is grief.
14One backsliding in heart shall be filled with his own ways, but a good man from himself.
15One of simplicity believes every word, but the prudent one considers his step.
16The wise ones fear and turn from evil, but the fool passes over and is bold.
17He who is short of temper acts foolishly; and a man of evil plots is hated.
18Ones of simplicity inherit foolishness, but the prudent ones are encircled with knowledge.
19The evil ones will bow before the good ones; yea, the wicked ones at the gates of the just one.
20The one lacking is hated even by his own neighbor, but lovers of a rich one are many.
21He who despises his neighbor sins, but he who favors the humble one, how happy is he!
22Devisers of evil go astray? But mercy and truth follow one devising good.
23In all pain there is profit, but the word of the lips tends only to poverty.
24The crown of the wise ones is their riches; the folly of fools is their foolishness.
25A true witness delivers souls, but a deceitful witness breathes lies.
26In the fear of Jehovah is strong trust, and His sons shall have a refuge.
27The fear of Jehovah is a fountain of life, to turn aside from snares of death.
28In the multitude of people is the king's glory, but in the lack of people is the ruin of a ruler.
29One long to anger is of great understanding, but he who is short of spirit exalts folly.
30A heart of healing is the life of the flesh, but jealousy is the rottenness of the bones.
31One oppressing the poor one curses his Maker, but one honoring Him favors the needy one.
32The wicked one is thrust out in his evil, but the righteous one seeks refuge in his death.
33Wisdom rests in the heart of one understanding, but amidst fools the lack of it is made known.
34Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a shame to any people
35The king's favor is toward a servant who acts wisely, but his wrath underlies one causing shame.
