Psalms 37

David persuades to patience and confidence in Jehovah, by the different estate of the godly ones and the wicked ones. A Psalm of David.

1A Psalm of David. Do not inflame yourself with evildoers; and do not be envious against workers of perversity;

2for they soon wither like grass and fade like the green herb.

3Trust in Jehovah and do good; live in the land and feed on faithfulness.

4And delight yourself in Jehovah, that He may give you your heart's desire.

5Roll your way on Jehovah and trust in Him; and He will work.

6And He will bring forth your righteousness like the light; and your judgment like the noon day.

7Rest in Jehovah and wait patiently for Him; inflame not yourself with him who prospers in his way, with the man practicing wicked wiles.

8Abstain from anger and cease from fury; also do not inflame yourself to do evil.

9For evildoers shall be cut off; and the ones waiting on Jehovah, they shall inherit the earth.

10It is but a little and the wicked one shall not be; yea, you shall consider his place, and he is not.

11But the meek shall inherit the earth; yea, they shall delight themselves in abundant peace.

12The wicked one plots against the righteous one and gnashes on him with his teeth;

13the Lord laughs at him, for He sees that his day is coming.

14The wicked ones have drawn out the sword and cause the afflicted and needy ones to fall, to slaughter the upright of way.

15Their sword shall enter into their heart, and their bows shall be broken.

16A little to the righteous one is better than the abundance of many wicked ones.

17For the arms of wicked ones shall be broken; but Jehovah upholds righteous ones.

18Jehovah knows the days of the blameless one; yea, their inheritance shall be forever.

19They shall not be ashamed in an evil time; and they shall be satisfied in days of famine.

20But the wicked ones shall perish; yea, the enemies of Jehovah shall be like the beauty of pastures; they are consumed; like smoke, they vanish.

21The wicked one borrows and never repays, but the righteous one is gracious and giving.

22For His blessed ones inherit the earth; and those cursed by Him shall be cut off.

23The steps of a man are established from Jehovah; and He will delight in his way.

24Though he falls, he is not cast down; for Jehovah holds up his hand.

25I have been young and am old, yet I have not seen the righteous one forsaken, or his seed begging bread.

26All the day he is gracious and lends; and his seed is for a blessing.

27Turn away from evil and do good and live forever.

28For Jehovah loves judgment and does not forsake His godly ones; they are preserved forever; but the seed of the wicked ones shall be cut off.

29The righteous ones shall inherit the earth and live on it forever.

30The mouth of the righteous one utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks judgment.

31The Law of his God is in his heart; his steps do not slide.

32The wicked one spies on the righteous one and seeks to kill him.

33Jehovah does not leave him in his hand, and does not find him guilty in his judgment.

34Wait on Jehovah and keep His way; and He shall exalt you in the cutting off of the wicked ones.

35I have seen the wicked one, the ruthless one, even spreading himself out like a luxuriant, native tree;

36yet he passed away, and, behold, he was not; and I looked for him, but he could not be found.

37Watch the perfect one and behold the upright one; for the end of that man is peace.

38But the transgressors are destroyed together; the end of the wicked ones is cut off.

39But the salvation of the righteous ones is from Jehovah; He is their strength in the time of distress.

40And Jehovah helps them and slipping away He makes them slip away from the wicked ones and save them, because they trust in Him.
